July's Coffee of the Month:

Santa Ana

  • Region: Santa Ana, El Salvador
  • Process: Fully Washed, Sun Dried, RFA, SHG, EP
  • Altitude: 1200 MASL
  • Roast Level: Medium
  • Sensory Notes: Toffee, Peanut, Oats, Chocolate

For the first time in a long time, this month, we head back to El Salvador. Located in the heart of Central America, the mineral rich volcanic soil throughout the Santa Ana Department provides excellent growing conditions for coffee. Those conditions have yielded a very enjoyable cup of coffee featuring predominant notes of toffee, peanut and oats with an underlying chocolate tone as well. These characteristics are somewhat typical and expected from this part of the world, but therein lies the beauty of Santa Ana. It’s not complicated or tricky, it’s not trying to be something it’s not. It’s just a damn good cup of coffee. Enjoy.
